Edinburgh Weather: new yellow warning for snow and ice issued across the Capital
The warning will come into force today at 3pm and will last until 11.59pm tomorrow, Thursday January 7.
The warning covers almost all of the UK with only the south of England excluded.

Hide AdAt the moment snow and rain are forecast in Edinburgh from between 4am and 9am tomorrow. As a result of this, forecasters have warned people in the city to expect icy patches on untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.
It is likely that travel will be disrupted as well as a result of the weather conditions.
Residents should be wary of the risks the ice poses with hospitals in Edinburgh seeing a surge in cases of people slipping on the ice and hurting themselves in recent weeks.
A statement on the Met Office website says: “A band of sleet and snow will arrive across northwest Scotland on Wednesday afternoon and move south eastwards across most parts of Scotland overnight, clearing southwards on Thursday morning.

Hide Ad"1-2 cm snow is likely to settle at low levels quite widely with 3-6 cm above 200 metres and up to 10 cm above 300 metres.
“Rain is more likely around some coasts, and snow may also turn to rain at low levels inland before clearing to leave a risk of ice on untreated surfaces on Thursday morning.”
While the yellow warning is only in place in Edinburgh until the end of the day tomorrow, it will continue in the north of Scotland until midday on Friday.
