Edinburgh Weather: Snow and ice warning for Lothians

The Lothians are set to be hit by snow and ice tomorrow, as a weather warning has been issued for the area.

The South of Edinburgh, Midlothian and the Borders are all under a yellow warning issued by the Met Office for Wednesday and Thursday, with travel and transport likely to be disrupted.

The warning is in place between 6pm on Wednesday and midday on Thursday, and the forecaster says that some roads and railways likely to be affected with longer journey times to be expected by road, bus and train services.

The Met Office says of the warning: “Frequent showers will increasingly turn to snow Wednesday night and persist into Thursday morning though these likely to fall as sleet and hail at times, mainly around coasts. Larger accumulations are expected at higher elevations with 2-5 cm above 200 m and up to 10 cm over some of the highest routes.”
