Higher temperatures are set to return to Edinburgh this week before cooling off again towards the weekend, with temperatures likely to hit more than 20C midweek.

Spring sunshine and warm temperatures was the story of April and the start of May in the Capital but more recently chilly winds and cloud have been the order of the day.

The week ahead will see temperatures rise to above 20C on Wednesday before rapidly dropping to the mid-teens by the weekend.

Chances of rain are low throughout the week with showers forecast for the weekend amid changeable conditions.

The majority of the week will be spent under thick cloud cover rather than a return to the sun of earlier this month.
