Hide AdFollowing Wednesday’s heatwave, Thursday (21 May) will see cloud during the morning, with bright sunshine throughout the afternoon, accompanied by a temperature of 16C.
Friday (22 May) will see a mixture of heavy and light rain during the morning, with light rain throughout the rest of the day. The temperature will be relatively warm, with a peak of 16C.

This weekend will see a mixture of rain, sunshine and cloud in Edinburgh,
There will be sunny spells during the morning on Saturday (23 May), before it turns cloudy.

Hide AdIt will then remain cloudy during the afternoon, with the chance of light showers during the evening. There will be a maximum daytime temperature of 12C.
Sunday (24 May) will see light showers during the morning, which will ease to sunny intervals during the afternoon, with a peak temperature of 16C.
Bank Holiday Monday (25 May) will see sunny spells throughout most of the day with highs of 18C.
Long-term forecast
Looking further ahead until the 2 June, the Met Office explains that, “The beginning of this period is likely to see a return to more settled conditions, bringing plenty of fine and dry weather, with temperatures recovering to above average.”

Hide AdHowever, the northwest of Scotland could still see some more unsettled conditions at times.
It is likely that there may be some outbreaks of rain moving southwards across the UK, accompanied by light winds.
High pressure could build again, bringing plenty of sunshine, calm conditions and above average temperatures, particularly in the south and east of the UK.
There may still be some cloudier skies and rain in parts of the north and west at times.
