As more brutal winter weather hit the Capital overnight, Edinburgh Trams took to Twitter today to announce that all of their services are currently suspended.

Tickets purchased for Edinburgh Trams can be used on Lothian Buses services.

A spokesperson from Edinburgh Trams, said: “Due to compacted snow and ice, we were unable to start normal service this morning.

"Our teams are working hard to clear tracks and we hope to resume normal services within a matter of hours.”

Edinburgh and the Lothians saw heavy snow through out Monday and Tuesday, and the Met Office have predicted the same for Wednesday.

A Met Office forecast has warned of extreme cold temperatures as most of Scotland is expected to sit below zero Celsius on Wednesday night.

Temperatures as low as minus 11C are expected overnight in the Highlands, while the central belt can expect highs of minus 2C, to lows of minus 6C.
