The current gale force winds and rain are disrupting services across Midlothian.

Three primary schools - Roslin, Rosewell and St Andrew’s (Gorebridge) - are all currently without power.

Parents are being advised, staff are working hard to get heating into the schools. The schools are all currently open. However, that situation may change if power is not restored.

Road travel across the county has also been affected. Council crews are out to clear the road at the A6094 at the community hospital because of fallen branches.

Branches are also on South Street at Cousland and on the B6372 at Fallhills. Crews are out to clear this route.

A team is also on the way to clear Lasswade Brae.

Watch out for flooding and surface water at Dalhousie Bridge, the Lasswade area in general and John Street, Penicuik.

The Roslin Glen road is currently closed because of flooding and a crew is on its way to clear the area.

Midlothian Council has also temporarily suspended bin collections because of high winds and is hoping to resume the service at around 10.30 am. Please leave your bin out and the council will empty it as soon as it can.

If you have an appointment for a council house repair, council staff still plan to come. However, the council is only currently taking emergency repair calls.
