Writer’s chapter will be monster hit

A CITY writer has contributed to a new book from children’s writing and mentoring charity the Ministry of Stories.

Wester Hailes-born Ross Sutherland was among authors and illustrators from all over the UK who worked with children to create The Awfully Bad Guide to Monster Housekeeping.

His chapter, The Alphabet, offers a monster A to Z, featuring delights such as C for Claws and S for Snot, with accompanying poems and illustrations.

Mr Sutherland has published two collections of poetry and is currently touring his one-man poetry and comedy show, The Three Stigmata of Pacman, which premiered at last year’s Fringe.

The Ministry of Stories, launched by writer Nick Hornby a year ago, has also launched a website selling “monster supplies” so that shoppers around the country can buy the book, along with other monster must-haves such as “tinned fear” and “fang floss”.
