Yacht floats party plans

THE Royal Yacht Britannia is to begin hosting wedding receptions for the first time – allowing couples to follow in the footsteps of Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall.

The vessel will open up for pre or post-wedding receptions.

The move follows the royal couple’s party on Britannia the night before their Canongate Kirk wedding in July.

Emma Thomson, the yacht’s marketing manager, said: “Previously we only did corporate events, but now you can have a pre-wedding reception, a golden wedding celebration, a private dinner or a 40th birthday party on board.”

Andrew Thomson, head of hospitality, said: “We are very conscious of the traditions that were in place when the Royal Family were on board and do our very best to recreate how Her Majesty would have done things.”
