Penicuik YMCA/YWCA is preparing to fight for survival after Midlothian Council cut its funding by £37,000 over the next three years.
A “Y we need the Y” public meeting will be held on January 17 in a bid to save services.
Management committee chairman Keith McIntosh blamed the council’s new system for allocating funding for the Y’s predicament.
The council approved its budget last week.
Mr McIntosh said the Y had made strides in reducing its overheads in recent years by trimming back on staffing and operational costs while increasing its revenue returns and outside project funding.
