Crossing Patrols

Council priorities

I was incensed by your front page lead on December 26, 2013, regarding the lunchtime axing of the school crossing patrol men and women in Midlothian.

These people do a fine job not only for the children, elderly and infirm, but able bodied citizens also. The council claim this will result in a saving of £38,000 per year.

Yet in the same issue you report it was decided to keep a newsletter at a cost of £35,000 per year.

Which would we rather have? A sheet of info, which most of us bin in any case. Or our children and elderly taken safely across our busy roads. I think I know most of your answers.

Midlothian Council hang your heads in shame.
