Credit due to Labour
As someone who lives in Bonnyrigg, I was really pleased to read in The Advertiser that the new Lasswade School has received a Scottish Property Award.
A big well done to all concerned. However, Councillor Owen Thompson’s (SNP) comments accepting this award left part of the story out.
As is well known in the area, it was the hard work of our local Labour councillors that got the whole project started in the first place.
Indeed – the new Lasswade School was built under a Labour council.
The SNP had only just taken office in time to give the building its grand opening.
Politics aside, I believe in credit where it is due, and Cllr Thompson would surely have no hesitation to say that the Lasswade Centre is a great testament to Labour councillors working with their community to build something we can all be proud of.
