School Transport

Setting the record straight

Sir, – I refer to the letters page in the Advertiser on Thursday, September 15, 2016, and write to clarify the position regarding Bilston to Roslin school transport.

The Prentice Westwood coach is used as it is part of a prior run to Beeslack High School and negates the requirement to contract a bus specifically for Bilston to Roslin route and it is considered more cost effective.

Accordingly, the points raised by your reader are inaccurate and I write to clarify the situation on behalf of the council.

Please be assured that the council continues to look at ways to provide school transport in the most economic manner.

Finally, if your reader requires further clarification they are welcome to contact the council directly. – Yours, etc.,

John Blair
