Firework nuisance

Bigger, louder... and a hazard

Sir, – I wonder how many of those inconsiderate “people” that used fireworks for hours and hours on Saturday night actually think about... no, actually just “think”?

Even worse are those that think it’s then okay to do it anytime they want, night after night.

There seems to be a growing trend to beat the neighbours with the biggest and loudest fireworks to indulge their overindulged offspring.

It seems crazy to me that our society would convict someone for carrying a knife, but allow any anyone over 18 to purchase and use dangerous explosives as and when they wish.

I believe we should have new laws that control their use by licence.

This would allow controlled public displays, but limit the hell we now go though each November. – Yours, etc.,
