Women’s football: Shannon Lynn’s hopes for Wales clash

Scotland women continue preparations for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2015 when they face Wales in a challenge match at East End Park, Dunfermline, tomorrow, and goalkeeper Shannon Lynn believes her side are on the verge of something special.

It’s just six months since the Scots faced crushing heartbreak after an agonising late-gasp goal from Spain in the European Championship play-off prevented them from becoming the first Scottish side to reach a major tournament.

The 27-year-old Hibs star insists that experience, whilst never forgotten, can be the memory that drives her to go the extra mile and claim a place in the history books.

Lynn said: “I’m not sure that we will ever really get that loss out of our systems, but we need to move on. The most important thing is to stay positive, be focused on developing every single day and not lose sight on how far we have come.

“The group of players we currently have are incredible; we’ve played some very exciting games already this season and come away with some fabulous results.

“If you look at the past few results between us and Wales, they have been close and it’s very exciting to be playing our first home game against such a good team.”
