Basketball: Older brother Reilly helps Kings over line at Glasgow

Stuttering Kings were just about staying ahead in a fairly drab game when Reilly hit three three-pointers in a row to take the score to 63-54 in their favour at the end of the third quarter.

The former Scottish junior cap went on to a game-high tally of 31 points, including two more three-pointers for a hot five from eight (63 per cent) from beyond the arc.

Lee Reilly had nine points and eight assists, but also six turn-overs, Ed Rekis added 17 points and five steals, Paddy Campbell 12 points and Simon Flockhart ten and 15 rebounds.

The students, for whom ex-Kings junior Ross Paterson impressed with 13 points and eight rebounds, led for most of the first quarter (18-18) and were only three down at half-time (38-35).

The result leaves Kings joint top of the table with Falkirk Fury, who scored a remarkable 103-97 home win over St Mirren at a full house Mariner Centre, Falkirk.

Jonny Bunyan scored 28, elder brother Keith 24, including seven threes, and Walter Lubeigt 17 for Fury, who trailed 26-28, led 52-51 at half-time and were tied 79-79 after the third quarter.

Boroughmuir Blaze struggled to put away winless Glasgow Storm 72-64 at the Crags on Saturday, with the result in doubt until the last two minutes when Storm were forced to 
foul.

John Brown scored 20, Tomas Cicenas 16 and Davy Rowan 12 for Blaze, who were coached by Lee “Chopper” Pettett.
