Blaze all fired up for home clash with leaders Falkirk

Despite a blemish on their record when they slipped up away to St Mirren, while Fury have beaten Saints to remain unbeaten, Blaze are confident they can get back into pole position with a victory, a belief borne out, they say, by the statistics. The Capital side have the highest points per game of any team and they are confident they can outscore anyone.

But Fury can also point to the statistics, having won all six of their league games so far with clear margins, the smallest being 15 points.

“We’ve been focussing on how well we play,” said Blaze captain Eoghann Dover, a Scottish cap and former Worcester Wolves BBL player. “Obviously they’ve a very strong team with experienced players that we want to try to limit.”

Fury coach John Bunyan said: “This is a big game for both teams and will play a big part in how the league table looks at the end of the season. Blaze provide us with a different challenge from most as they play aggressive, up-tempo basketball and will try to get us into a running game.”

On Sunday EU men, who triumphed 68-60 in their Scottish Universities derby in mid-week, will seek to do the double over their winless Glasgow rivals at 3.50pm. Blaze women are in action at 3.20pm at nearby Crags SC v Fury in a game which really should have been a double-header with the men.
