Bowls: Glory for Lewis and Liam
Ten-year-old Lewis Betts and Liam McKay, 16, are the toast of Portobello IBC’S Junior section following their national title success in the Pairs at the Scottish Under-17 Championships.
The trip to Garioch, Inverurie, saw the Portobello challengers compete in a tough qualifying section but wins over Buchan, Blantyre and Dumbarton earned them full points and a place in the final against a more experienced Prestwick partnership of Dawn Anderson and Andy Weir. However, Betts and McKay secured a 6-2 win.
Portobello also put on a great show in the Triples with Chloe Thomson, Ross Thomson and Dean Mackintosh showing great form to reach the final, but in a hard-fought battle they just lost out by Abbeyview.
