Knockout deal fuels McEwan bid

capital boxer Craig McEwan is hoping a new sponsor can help drive him to world title glory, writes BRIAN DONALD.

McEwan has been boosted by backing from Stenhouse Motor Engineers in Slateford, a company which has won major UK-wide contracts, including the McLaren F1 team making use of their liquid gas engine technology.

Light-middleweight McEwan is preparing to fight former world light-middleweight champion Kassim Ouma in Las Vegas on September 17 and is grateful for the generous backing from Stenhouse Motor Engineers’ boss Neil Brownlee. McEwan said: “This deal came about because one of Neil’s employees is the manager of the local Chesser pub football team and he asked me to put his team through a summer training programme. From there, I got to know Neil.”
