Bronze for Edinburgh Uni pair in Sheffield

Edinburgh University’s Corrie Scott and Warrender’s Craig McNally both claimed bronze medals at the British Gas ASA National Championships at the Ponds Forge Pool in Sheffield.

Scott set a personal best of 2:30.89 in the 200m breaststroke in finishing third behind Molly Renshaw (2:27.72) and Danielle Lowe (2:30.74).

McNally’s medal came in the 200m backstroke. He clocked 1:58.45 in an event won by Chris Walker-Hebborn (Ellesmere County) in 1:57.17. David Carry, the Stockport-based Scot who won the 400m freestyle and secured a place in Team GB for next month’s Olympics on Tuesday, showed his terrific form by adding a silver medal in the 200m freestyle last night.

The gold and the chance to line-up alongside City of Glasgow’s Robbie Renwick in the London Olympics went to Wales’ Ieuan Lloyd. Stirling’s Jak Scott finished seventh in 1:49.89.
