Capital trio called up for Scots' series with Afghanistan

Three Capital-based players are in the Scotland cricket squad for next week's One Day International series against Afghanistan at the Grange.

Mazars Grange batsman Preston Mommsen leads the group while Carlton seamer Ali Evans and Heriot’s spinner Mark Watt are involved.

Brad Wheal returns to the squad with Forfarshire’s in-form wicketkeeper/batsman Craig Wallace also included.

The matches are in Stockbridge next Monday and Wednesday and Scotland head coach Grant Bradburn said: “After a lean period of national fixtures, the squad are looking forward to coming together for the first time since the ICC World Twenty20. Despite some local and county players being unavailable for consideration for this series, we have brought together a very strong and exciting side.”
