Unbeaten City of Edinburgh get the chance to measure up against reigning Scottish women's champions Su Ragazzi at Queensferry High tomorrow in the first major showdown of the volleyball season.

New-look Ragazzi are without Scotland international setter Priya Gill due to long-term injury but have boosted their ranks this season with two new foreign signings.

Experienced Latvian setter Laima Andrejevaite has arrived along with powerful Spanish hitter Mascha Ducken and they will present a new set of problems for City.

“We are preparing for a really tough game and we hope that the crowd sees a spectacle of great volleyball,” said Ragazzi coach Vince Krawczyk.

“This is the clash of the two top sides in Scotland and it may be decided by the hitting of the likes of Edinburgh’s GB international Jen Thom or by the platform that we can build through the team’s top-quality passing unit.”

The tie is preceded at 10am by the match of the day in the men’s SVL Premier with City of Edinburgh hosting City of Glasgow Ragazzi. Both sides are unbeaten but City are top as they have not dropped a set in wins over South Ayrshire, Glasgow Mets and Edinburgh Jets so far and are looking for a win ahead of next month’s European debut against Viking TIF BERGEN in the CEV European Challenge Cup.
