Cricket: Scotland lose to hosts Bangladesh

Heriot's spinner Ryan Brown took a wicket, but the Scotland Under-19 cricketers lost their second World Cup group match to hosts Bangladesh yesterday.

The Scots went into the encounter in the Sheikh Kamal Stadium in Cox’s Bazar on the back of an opening defeat by Namibia.

The home side batted first and were well served by Nazmal Hossain Shanto who hit a superb 113 not out off just 117 balls.

Mehedi Hasan also made 51 as they posted 256-6 from their 50 overs. Mohammad Ghaffar was the pick of Scotland’s bowlers with 4-60 while Brown took 1-48.

In Scotland’s reply they got off to quite a good start with captain Neil Flack making 28 and his opening partner Rory Johnston 20.

Azeem Dar then made 50, but wickets fell around him and Scotland were eventually all out for 142 to lose by 114 runs.

The Scots now face South Africa tomorrow in the final group match.
