Cycling: Downing signs for Endura
West LOTHIAN cycling outfit Endura Racing have bolstered their ranks with the signing of Englishman Russell Downing from Team Sky.
The 33-year-old former British road race and track champion was a solid contributor to the success of Sky over the past two years, but was not offered a contract extension. Riding for Endura will present the opportunity to seek further success in high profile events in Britain and on the continent, where he won the 2010 Tour de Wallonie.
Relishing the chance to compete for the Livingston-based squad the Yorkshireman said: “Endura Racing have an impressive-looking race schedule for 2012 and I’m looking to get back to winning ways.”
