Twenty-one year old Dalkeith runner Greg Louden is part of the Scotland 4x400 meters team going for gold at Hampden Park.
The former Dalkeith High School pupil joins Jamie Bowie, Grant Plenderleith and Kris Robertson in the Scotland relay team.
The Lasswade AC athlete is excited about the prospect of running in front of a home crowd but is realistic about his team’s chances given the level of opposition they could face.
He said: “It’s my first ever Commonwealth Games so I’m pretty excited. And for it to be in Scotland makes it more special because I’m never going to have a home games again in my career.
“The majority of the crowd are going to be Scottish so it will make us that bit more motivated to go and give them something to cheer about.
“It’s a dream come true really.
“But we will take it one race at a time.
“I think we can step up a level from our qualifying time.
“We are all capable of stepping it up in our heat and then we can take it from there.
“But there will be some great teams in there, very fast. Bahamas, Jamaica and England will be the favourites.”
