East Lothian’s Emirates Scottish Junior Cup contestants were reduced to just one - Musselburgh Athletic, last season’s beaten finalists - following Saturday’s third round replay at Millfield Park where Haddington Athletic eventually fell out of the cup on a penalty shoot against Troon, writes Striker.
The Hi-Hi were denied progress to the last 32 by two excellent Troon goalkeeper’s saves.
So Musselburgh’s name went into the hat yesterday (Thursday) for the fourth round draw made in Glasgow as the sole East Lothian representative in the national cup competition together with two neighbours from Midlothian fellow Burgh Super League’s Bonnyrigg Rose and Premier League’s Arniston Rangers.
Arniston had won their way into round four after their 2-1 third round away win against Stonehouse Violet thanks to goals from Ryan Somerville and Dean Thornhill.
There will be no rest for Haddington this weekend they visit top of the South League’s much improved Dalkeith Thistle whose boss Willie Pearson was in the crowd at Haddington on Saturday.
