Amateurs: Barca Milton 97 sparkle at The Jewel to continue Logan run

There had been little goalmouth action in the opening stages but suddenly the game came to life.

Chris Stevenson nodded Mussie ahead from a Ryan Droudge corner and immediately Barca replied as Jordan Davidson steered in from close range.

As the half progressed, it was Barca who started to look the more threatening but they couldn’t quite capitalise on the chances they created. That was until the 43rd minute, when they finally put the ball in the net. Scott Smith’s header rattled the Mussie crossbar before Dave Middlemass smashed in the rebound.

Into the second half, Barca looked to wrap the game up with another goal but, as the scoreline remained unchanged, Mussie grew in confidence.

Droudge and Alan Cornet saw long-range strikes hit the woodwork with Barca hanging on to their advantage.

The momentum then swung the way of the hosts with 15 minutes to go and they really should have made it 3-1 with a handful of chances squandered in front of goal

It wasn’t to matter, though, as late on Barca did secure the win as James Air’s cross was headed in by Middlemas.

• Inter the next round of cup

Inter Edinburgh progressed to the third round of the Logan Cup as they edged out Armadale Rose 3-2 at Gyle Park.

Inter produced some fine finishing in the early stages to put themselves in a commanding position.

Armadale conceded possession deep in their own half and Ian Wallace made them pay with a comfortable finish.

Then, shortly after the first goal, Inter doubled their lead, Mihai Bogatu making no mistake from the penalty spot.

As the half wore on, the side from West Lothian gradually made inroads into the cup tie and they deservedly pulled a goal back as Darren Campbell seized upon a loose pass in the Inter final third to fire in.

Into the second half, and Armadale pulled another back to make it 2-2 thanks to Drew Anderson’s header from a corner.

The next goal would be vital and it was Inter that responded well to conceding as Bogatu once again fired in a spot-kick.

Armadale rallied at the death but Inter’s third goal was to prove enough.

• Dunedin win at the death

Dunedin Athletic climbed to joint top of the Edinburgh East division thanks a last-gasp 3-2 victory over Cavalry Park at Duddingston Playing Fields.

Throughout the majority of the first half, the sides enjoyed a fairly even share of possession and opportunities but it was Dunedin who took the lead just before half time. Ross Downie sprinted through a gap in the Cavalry defence to send the ball into the bottom-right corner.

After regrouping at the break, Cavalry grabbed a deserved goal for their hard work as Gavin Clark nodded in from a corner.

It seemed like their efforts were undone, though, as Dunedin went back ahead thanks to Downie, who curled in Kieran Boyle’s cutback.

But, once again, Cavalry replied from a set-piece as Dave Hedley pounced on a loose ball from a corner to make it 2-2.

In the last ten minutes, the game became real end-to-end contest with neither team content with a draw.

It looked like it was to end a point a piece until Dunedin struck with the last kick of the game.

A throw-in from the left hand side wasn’t dealt with by Cavalry and James Spence took advantage to fire home the clinching goal.
