Following major junior football postponements last Saturday due to heavy overnight frost, this coming Saturday (December 3) will see further attempts at getting third round Scottish Junior Cup ties played with the draw for the fourth round being delayed meantime.

High flying Bonnyrigg Rose face two away Scottish Cup ties, firstly on Saturday away to Thorniewood United in the third round of the Scottish Junior Cup and then next Tuesday (December 6) they are away to Dumbarton in the third round replay of the William Hill Scottish Cup, ko 7.45 pm.

Meanwhile fellow East Super League Penicuik Athletic and Newtongrange Star, who were both sidelined by the weather last Saturday hope to resume competitive action this weekend.

The Star host Broxburn Athletic who lost 2-1 at home to current top of the super league Kelty Hearts last Saturday.

Newtongrange drew 1-1 at Broxburn in October in the league and they would welcome at least a point from this rematch with Broxburn.

Penicuik Athletic’s second round East of Scotland Cup tie at home to Glenrothes was ko’d by the weather last Saturday and has been put on the back boiler as Penicuik this weekend are away to Camelon in search of league points.

Fife and Lothians cupholders Penicuik beat Camelon 2-0 at home in the second round of the Fife and Lothians Cup early in November.

All six of last Saturday’s premier league games were postponed so it’s fingers crossed this coming weekend for better weather with both Dalkeith Thistle and Arniston Rangers keen to play.

Arniston who drew 2-2 in the league at home to Haddington Athletic back in August and now on a high after recent Scottish Cup successes will find the Hi Hi a real test at Millfield Park.

Dalkeith’s King’s Park was also unplayable last Saturday for the league visit of St Andrews will hope for better weather this weekend with Sauchie the visitors.

South League’s Easthouses Lily retain their league fixture at the Newbattle complex hosting West Calder United.

Lily will have two more league fixtures away to Pumpherston then at home to Rosyth before the two week festive break for junior football.
