Craigroyston fired up for Kelso visit

Craigroyston boss George Bowmaker is looking forward to facing Kelso United at St Mark’s Park tomorrow after a spirited performance against league leaders Preston Athletic last week.

Bowmaker saw his team snatch a stoppage-time equaliser in the Central Taxis First Division but was disappointed his side had not picked up all three points.

“I am delighted with the progress we have made so far this season and I reckon that we were definitely as good as Preston. This augers well for the run in towards the end of the season if we can repeat performances like that.”

However, he is remaining wary of the threat Kelso will pose. “You can never tell against Borders teams who fight and scratch up until the final whistle,” added Bowmaker who will be without the injured Greg Irvine while Martin Wallace is unavailable.

Craigroyston visited Kelso earlier this season and were two down after only five minutes but rallied to win 4-2.

“I am confident that on our bigger park we can continue with our good run,” added Bowmaker. “Jamie Stewart scored a cracking goal last week with a superb shot into the corner. After seven weeks out with an injury Jamie is looking good with his all round abilities.

“We had the good, the bad and the indifferent last week.

“Good in as much as we managed to get the late equaliser, indifferent in that over the 90 minutes we deserved to win, and bad because we did not claw back any points on Preston Athletic.

“My players came off at the end of the game raging because they had not won the match.”
