Dalkeith set to welcome Penicuik

This weekend sees Midlothian Junior football matches – which now kick off at 2.30pm – at Dalkeith’s King’s Park and Bonnyrigg’s New Dundas Park.

Meanwhile, Newtongrange Star and Arniston Rangers go on their travels, and game-starved Penicuik Athletic face a local derby visit to Dalkeith in the Premier League.

Third bottom Penicuik – with six fewer league games played than their hosts, third-top Thistle – are poised on 38 goals for the season, compared to Dalkeith’s 59. Premier League-toppers (10 points clear) Newtongrange Star are away to second top (with six games in hand) Ballingry Rovers, who are chasing a hat-trick of wins over the Star after winning twice at New Victoria Park in the league and in the Fife and Lothians Cup second round. A huge game for Alan Miller’s men.

On Saturday, while Dalkeith Thistle were beating Armadale Thistle at King’s Park by 2-0 in the second round of the Fife and Lothians Cup, Newtongrange Star were victorious over visiting Fifers Glenrothes 4-0 in the Premier League. But Penicuik lost 3-1 in the championship away to Tayport.

Arniston Rangers had a handsome 4-1 win at Newbyres Park in the South League over visiting Edinburgh United. This week, however, they face a tough trip away to Livingston United.

Bonnyrigg Rose are at home to Carnoustie Panmure, who took a 5-0 drubbing at home to Musselburgh Athletic on Saturday.
