Fife journey pays dividends for Arniston

Another journey over the Forth Bridge for Arniston saw them take on Tayport last Saturday.

The home team started strongly putting the Arniston defence under severe pressure with some good last minute tackles and blocks saving the day.

Dale Cornet in the Arniston goal was doing his part with some brave interventions.

Gradually the visitors came more into the game getting control of midfield.

Lumbert Kataleza worked his way into a good position but his finishing shoot was wide.

The same player, however, made amends on the half-hour mark from a corner which was not properly cleared the ball fell kindly to him on the edge of the 18 yards and he made no mistake with a strong shot into the roof of the net.

Arniston’s midfielder Miller was next to try his luck with a shot which tested the home keeper but it was 1-0 to Arniston at the break.

The second half started with the visitors still dominating and it was the home defence who were now coming under pressure. Only an occasional break away saw them test the Arniston defence.

The game was more or less settled at 2-0 to Arnie in the 80th minute when a good move down the right was latched on to by Miller who drew the defence before giving an inch perfect pass through to No8 Jeffrey who placed the ball confidently past the advancing keeper and into the net so it was 2-0 to the superb Arniston.

The only reply was a corner for the home side which was well dealt with by the visiting defence. Final score - Tayport 0, Arniston 2.

A good all round performance by Arniston who after weathering the first 15 minutes took control of the game.
