Allan McGonigal’s men had already sought a rescheduling of the game due to the closure of the M74 this weekend, with Hearts’ Scottish Premiership fixture at Hamilton having already been switched to Monday night.

United’s Junior Cup tie will now take place on Saturday, November 26 at a venue within the Lanarkshire area, with Blantyre anticipating that their Castle Park ground will be unavailable for at least four weeks.

A statement on their website read: “The club was hit by an electrical fault fire on Sunday evening causing substantial damage to the Kitchen/laundry area. Smoke damage also caused damage to kits, training gear and changing rooms. In light of this, the club has cancelled this week’s Scottish Cup match with Bo’ness United. This match will now be played on November 26 at a venue yet to be determined within the Lanarkshire area.”
