Preston Lodge High School U13 football team has recently been crowned East-Midlothian League Champions for 2013-14, the first time Preston Lodge has won the U13 league since it was set-up in 1974.
The team won 11 out of 12 games and were only beaten in their last game against Lasswade when the league was already sealed.
The league has been very competitive this year and Preston Lodge had seven victories by one goal. A 3-2 victory against Musselburgh Grammar on the first day of the season and a 3-2 victory in the reverse fixture proved to be the two crucial games after Musselburgh Grammar finished in second place.
The team sealed the league with a 2-1 win at Newbattle.
With the final game against Lasswade the boys sought to finish up the season winning every match, however a 5-2 win for Lasswade meant it was not to be.
The boys were presented with the trophy by John Frame and Scotland International and Rangers player Ian Black.
Graeme Bennion, active schools co-ordinator, thanked Ali McEwan and Scott Currie for helping out throughout the year, as well as the pupils’ supportive families.
