Fox aims to bounce back at Thistle

The sides sit only two points apart in the First Division and Fox knows it will be a tough game after the meeting between the sides earlier in the season.

He said: “We were disappointed with how the game went last week against County. I think the game was pretty evenly balanced at 0-0 when the referee sent Rory Boulding off, but there’s no doubt they were probably the better side in the first half. Despite not having played very well, for the first ten minutes of the second half we had a wee bit of pressure, won a few corners, but the sending off’s had a massive impact on the game.

“All we can do is hold our hands up, look at our performance, analyse it and move on. We’ve got a big game at Firhill coming up tomorrow and we’ll need to try and put it right and get three points.”

Gary Bollan’s Lions defeated the Jags 2-1 in West Lothian earlier in the season thanks to a late Kyle Jacobs goal, but on that occasion it was a tight game that could have fallen for either side.

Fox added: “I think it was fair to say they were the better side when they came to us in September, but we nicked a late goal. I don’t think you’d get anyone in our camp that will disagree with that.

“It just shows though that sometimes you need a break. I’d take another one like that tomorrow. It’s good playing nice football, as we like to do, but sometimes you need to get big results when you’re not at your best.”

The Livi skipper has plenty of experiences of travelling to the Glasgow ground with the West Lothian side, and is hoping to add a positive entry to his growing collection of memories against Thistle.

He said: “One of my worst memories at Livi is probably the night we got beat on penalties in a Scottish Cup reply at Firhill a few years back.

“There was a massive incentive to play Rangers in the next round, and to dominate as we did that night and then lose was a sore one to take. But we’ve had some good performances there too, so hopefully we can produce another of those on Saturday.”
