It was an infuriating evening in the City of Discovery for many fans who watched at home.

They watched their side fail to attend the races in the first half before arriving after the interval but not doing enough to get a result.

Fans had their say on the loss:

@therichardcobb: “Should be said that Wighton had ZERO service in the whole first half and was hooked 9 minutes into the second yet Jamie Walker was allowed to gallivant about on the park like he’d won a competition for 90 minutes.”

@lauriedunsire: “Well, that was rubbish. Deserved nothing from the game, Adam ran the show first 45.”

@MatthewHarold83:Robbie Neilson saying he's looking to move some of the younger players out on loan. He already has about nine youngsters out on loan. There's yet more short-termism in his thinking.”

@maroonspecs: “Game was lost in the first half and though there were many culprits in turquoise, Neilson has to shoulder a lot of responsibility too. The only person who doesn't appear to have recognised the direct correlation between our performances and the presence of Irving on the pitch.”

@ThisMyStoryPod: “Played 5 championship sides away from home. Lost 3, won 2. Players playing out of position, and miles off it. Berra making weekly mistakes, Halkett not much better. Halliday offers barely anything. Lee wasted out of position… tinker tinker tinker.”

@lewisfrain: “Important not to get carried away but really not a fan of us chucking it every few weeks. When we're on it, happy days, when not its quite shocking.”

@TS_Nicoll: “An alarmingly abject performance. The away form needs to improve quickly if Hearts are going to have a comfortable season. Dundee thoroughly deserving of their win. Reinforcements clearly required at Tynecastle in January, up front and at the back... Work to be done!”

@McrobbScott: “Need a change of attitude away from home. Showing far too much respect to teams that don't deserve it. Changing things at half time every away game will cost us a shed load of points.”

@Liamr1874: “This has been coming even when we win the performances are awful even if we do go up it’s gonna be yet another year of signing a whole new team in the summer and being in “transition” wouldn’t be shocked if we went straight back down again”

@anasdotscot: “Another unwelcome bump in the Championship road. We need two new defenders, we need a striker who is properly fast, we need to not let tonight’s result demoralise us too much. Plenty for Robbie Neilson to think about this month in the transfer window.”

@SWhyte1874: “Another woeful performance away from home. Need a change in attitude in these games.”

@JohnBro1905: “Let’s have some perspective our second half showing should have got us something from the game even after how abject we were first half. A stupid penalty then gifted allowed them to seal the game when we had them pinned in. We are 5 points clear and will win the league.”
