The Bairns are already preparing for next season, their third season in League One after failing to reach the play-offs, finishing fifth after a run of three wins in 11.

Gomis spent two seasons at Tynecastle, making 58 appearances, playing a pivotal role in the club’s return to the top-flight in season 2014/15, forming a formidable partnership in midfield with Prince Buaben.

The 35-year-old featured 22 times this season.

Meanwhile, Sammon, who arrived at Hearts in 2016 on a three-year deal, struggled to make an impact with just two goals in 27 appearances.

The Irishman started his Falkirk career strongly but managed just three league goals this campaign.

The experienced pair are among the first of what will likely be a number of former Hearts players to be available this summer.
