Mason joins having been released from Hearts where he spent more than a decade but didn't make a first-team appearance for the club, but didn enjoy loan spells at Bonnyrigg Rose, Annan Athletic and Airdrieonians.

During his time at Ainslie Park in the 2019/20 campaign, Mason, who was one of seven goalkeepers to play for the club, made five appearances keeping three clean sheets.

On signing for the club once more, he said: “I’m delighted to be a part of Edinburgh City again. After my loan spell last season, as soon as I knew James wanted to sign me there was no doubt I would be coming back to the club.”

Mason will now compete for the No.1 spot with Calum Antell who signed a new deal last month.

City boss James McDonaugh said: “Kelby did well for us when he arrived last season on loan from Hearts. To sign him again, this time permanently, gives us two good goalkeepers competing for the number one jersey.”

McDonaugh has been busy putting a squad together for next season's League Two which kicks off in October as he aims for promotion following reconstruction disappointment.

In addition to Antell and Mason, Edinburgh City have also handed new contracts to Danny Handling, Liam Henderson and Liam Brown, while also adding centre-back Lee Hamilton following his release from Stranraer and bringing Ouzy See back to the club.
