Revealed: How much money Hearts and Hibs have received from SPFL advanced payments

Top three receive £395,000 while others, like Hearts and Hibs, get lesser sum

The Scottish Professional Football League has made advanced payments to all 42 clubs under its umbrella, the BBC reports.

The money was due to be given in April but the governing body decided to make payments early to help teams deal with the Scottish football shutdown.

All games were suspended indefinitely on Friday 13 March due to the coronavirus pandemic and it is believed football may not return until after the summer.

With no income coming in, clubs are facing an uncertain and precarious future. Hearts asked for all staff to take a 50 per cent cut, while Dumbarton and Inverness CT have also announced cost-cutting measures.

Advanced payments of £395,000 plus VAT will be given to the top three in the Scottish Premiership, which currently stands as Celtic, Rangers and Motherwell.

The rest of top flight clubs, including Hearts and Hibs, will get £157,500 plus VAT.

In the Championship, clubs will receive £26,500 plus VAT, League One clubs get £2,700 plus VAT and League Two clubs £1,350 plus VAT.
