Lennon’s assistant Garry Parker was in the Icelandic capital Reykjavik last Thursday to watch the Danes crush local side Valur 4-1 in the first leg of their first round qualifying tie and the Hibs boss believes there is little to gain from him travelling to Copenhagen for the return game.

Instead, Lennon will be in the away dugout as Hibs play their second pre-season friendly against League Two newcomers Edinburgh City, convinced his time will be better spent with his squad.

He said: “I would imagine the tie is over with them being 4-1 up away from home. It might not be the same team that plays tonight that plays at Easter Road next Thursday. We’ve already watched them so we know how they play away from home.”

Lennon anticipated Hibs facing Brondby when the draw was made, admitting they’ll present formidable opposition for his Championship side, saying: “They are a crack Scandinavian team and have been for quite a while. They have bags of experience and international players like Teemu Pukki. It couldn’t have been a tougher draw for us, really. The co-efficient isn’t great, so we expected a decent side.”

Having used 22 players against Berwick Rangers 48 hours ago, Lennon insisted it would be “horses for courses” as he seeks to “get some legs” into his players both tonight and again on Sunday when Hibs take on Motherwell at Easter Road.

Jordon Forster and James Keatings missed out at Shielfield Park, but Lennon revealed their absence was purely precautionary with both possibly in contention for an appearance tonight.
