The Capital outfit had already recieved 2000 pre-orders for “Time For Heroes” but the club shop enjoyed one of its busiest days in years as the DVD went on general sale on Friday and staff were again rushed off their feet as fans flocked to buy it before Saturday’s match against St Mirren.

Today Greig Mailer, Hibs’ head of marketing and commercial operations, revealed the club knew they had a hit on their hands after the near three-hour epic was screened on two successive nights at the Vue Cinema at Ocean Terminal.

He said: “There had been a lot of discussion about it; When it might be released, what it would look like and so on so we knew there would be a natural level of demand.

“We invested a lot of time, thought and resources into the project because we wanted to capture that historic moment and wanted to do it justice.

“The team that put it together did a fantastic job and we were really pleased with the response following those screenings.

“We got good press coverage, the fans forums and social media were red-hot so we knew then we had a hit on our hands.

“We also got great feedback from the players themselves who, after all, are the stars of the movie.

“The work was completed two weeks ago so it was then a case of getting it on sale as quickly as possible. We had 2000 pre-orders placed.

“They arrived on Thursday and we had staff working into the small hours and were then back in early morning to get them away. It’s not as simple as just shoving them into an envelope. “Some people were ordering more than the DVD so other products had to be packaged and then we were working with the Royal Mail to make sure they got delivered and to be on fans’ doorsteps as soon as possible to let them enjoy the movie.

“We are not Amazon. It’s a small operation and the guys worked their socks off They’d been at the advanced screening and a lot of them are Hibs fans so they were pleased to be part of it all.

“Friday was one of the busiest days we’ve had in the shop, very busy, and that continued on Saturday as supporters came in to buy a copy before the game. More than 5000 were sold over the weekend but new supplies are arriving almost by the day and that will continue into the Christmas run-in.”
