Signing a two-year deal, Gogic arrives to cover a role supporters had been eager to see filled for around 12 months.

The 26-year-old’s description of the type of player he is and what he enjoys doing on the pitch will be music to ears of the Hibs faithful, explaining he takes great pleasure in stopping attacks and protecting the defence.

No player recorded more than Gogic's 327 interceptions in the Scottish Premiership last season.

“I stop other teams attacking,” he told Hibs TV. “I cut their attacks and make us attack on the counter-attack. I just hope I can cut many attacks and give it to them and they can do their show and score goals.

“I really enjoy it. Some people might call me rough and stuff but I don’t mind it.

“You always like to play football and that’s the most important thing. When you steal the ball is to give the ball to your team-mate and not to lose it because if you give it away there’s no point tackling really.”

Gogic also revealed that the Hibs support also played their part in getting him to sign.

The player was inundated with messages urging him to choose Easter Road despite interest from elsewhere in the UK and around Europe.

One fan even said he would get a tattoo of the player’s name if he did arrive.

"It’s an amazing place to play,” Gogic said. “Every time I came On the bus you see it and think ‘this is a place you want to play football every week.

“[It] made my decision easier when all the fans are tweeting you and telling you ‘come here’. It’s nice to feel wanted.

“One of them said he’d tattoo my name so I want to see that. I can do that for him!”
