Goals from Chris Kane and former Hibs loanee Glenn Middleton gave St Johnstone a late two-goal cushion, which proved vital with Conor McCarthy pulling one back for the Paisley club.

The reigning Betfred Cup holders will face Hibs in Scottish football’s showpiece encounter after Jack Ross’ men defeated Dundee United on Saturday by two goals to nil as Kevin Nisbet and Christian Doidge got on the scoresheet.

The match has been confirmed as taking place on Saturday, May 22 at Hampden Park.

There will be no supporters in attendance despite the easing of lockdown restrictions as the Scottish FA will have already handed over control of the national stadium to Uefa ahead of this summer’s European Championships.

The game, therefore, will kick-off at a slightly earlier than traditional time of 2pm.
