'Gogic was a machine', 'Could see he has something' - Hibs fans react to Gogic display and Irvine debut

There were plenty of talking points from Hibs’ 2-0 win against Kilmarnock with a rare goal from Alex Gogic – his first in green and white – and a debut for Jackson Irvine top of the list.

Supporters gushed over Gogic, who had a fine game in midfield for Hibs.

Jamie Urey said: “Thought having Hallberg and Gogic was a bit overkill in the first half but we stepped it up big time in the second. Screamer from Gogic to settle it; up to 3rd, end it now.”

Liam Pattie added: “If Gogic did that weekly I wouldn’t criticise him. If he does it next week, then I’ll maybe praise him!"

Paul Morton wrote: “Perfect game for Gogic today. White park. Opponents’ midfield prefer a scrap to playing football. Some strike too. One of those days where you need that type of player.”

Brendan Watson reasoned: “I’ll be honest, I’ve slated Gogic. Still maintain he’s not been good enough, quality today though, hopefully kicks on now.”

Danielle Scott enthused: “Gogic was excellent today!”

Michael Hansborough tweeted: “Even before his goal thought Gogic was excellent.”

Jack Gillies said: “Gogic was just a machine today; that goal was filth as well.”

Harry McArthur added: “Awful first half to watch but very comfortable second half. Irvine looked promising, Gogic dominant and a Godly goal. Exactly what we needed. The chase for second is back on.”

As for Irvine, he was naturally a bit off the pace but some fans were pleased with what they saw.

Neil Watters tweeted: “Great three points against a difficult opponent, Doig and McGinn excellent, and decent debut from Irvine. Clean sheet and up to third place, happy Saturday."

On Hibs.net Stevie Reid wrote: “When he was involved he looked good. On the fringes for most of it, was a bit too far up the pitch a lot of the time.”

Fergus52 added: “Looked quiet but was playing at number 10 which definitely isn't his best position.”

Heisenberg said: “Looked like he hadn’t played a proper match in ages. Very rusty I thought.”

Since452 added: “Could definitely see he has something. Match sharpness will come.”
