The 26-year-old, who spent three-and-a-half seasons with Accies, announced his departure from the Fountain of Youth Stadium last month after more than 80 appearances.

Light in midfield

Hibs were first linked with Gogic at the start of June, when it became apparent the Nicosia-born player would be available for free.

Four central midfielders have left Easter Road in the last six months with Josh Vela joining Shrewsbury Town in January, Vykintas Slivka leaving at the end of his contract in June and loan duo Greg Docherty and Stephane Omeonga returning to their parent clubs.

Veteran utility man Steven Whittaker, who was occasionally used in a holding role, also left to join Dunfermline Athletic on expiry of his contract, leaving Hibs light in the middle of the park.

Gogic began his career with Olympiacos in Greece, before joining Swansea City’s youth ranks in the summer of 2013 where he played alongside the likes of current Manchester United winger Daniel James and Sheffield United and Scotland striker Oli McBurnie.

The versatile Cypriot, who was capped at underage level by his country, can operate at centre-back or in defensive midfield, and was often deployed in front of the back four by Brian Rice.

The arrival of former St Johnstone winger Drey Wright on a two-year deal was confirmed this morning, while Capital club also announced the signing of striker Kevin Nisbet after agreeing a six-figure transfer fee with Dunfermline for the sought-after forward.
