Hibs have upped their pursuit of winger Drey Wright.

The Easter Road outfit want to bring the 25-year-old into the squad for the 2020/21 campaign as head coach Jack Ross looks to assemble his group of players for the Premiership's resumption at the start of August.

Wright is one of club's principal transfer targets and a move for the Englishman – who is a free agent after leaving St Johnstone – would bolster Ross’ limited options out wide and allow the Hibs boss to use Martin Boyle as a striker.

The Evening News understands that Wright was present at Hibs’ East Mains training base on Wednesday for a look around the facilities.

Wright has impressed in Scottish football since joining from Colchester two years ago despite suffering a serious knee injury.

The player is on the radar of other clubs in both Scotland and England, but Hibs are keen to make him their first signing of the summer.

Hibs are in the midst of cost-cutting measures as the impact of the coronavirus crisis hits home, but owner Ron Gordon and chief executive Leeann Dempster have both revealed that recruitment to bolster the first team will be permitted.
