Hibs midfielder Stephane Omeonga has answered several questions from Easter Road fans, ranging from his toughest opponent to the loss of his iconic dreadlocks.

The Capital club called on its supporters to send in their queries amid the ongoing hiatus, and filmed the affable Belgian replying to some of them.

Omeonga returned for a second loan spell in Edinburgh during January having shorn off his hair. Asked by two fans what had happened, the 23-year-old said: “I cut it. I cut it in the summer before the [Under-21] Euros because it made my life easier.

“It’s also quicker to get ready in the morning.”

And will the dreadlocks make a return to Easter Road in the near future?

“I’m thinking about growing my hair again but to be honest, I don’t know.”

Favourite moment in a Hibs shirt

Discussing his favourite moment in a Hibs shirt, Omeonga replied: “Either the win [over Hearts] at Tynecastle last season, or my first goal [against Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the Scottish Cup]. But I can’t decide between the two of them so I will just say both.”

Having played in Serie A, Omeonga has come up against some of the world’s leading players, and picked one Juventus man as his toughest opponent.

“I was on the bench when we played against Juventus two years ago so I didn’t play against Cristiano Ronaldo but I did play against Paulo Dybala so I think the most amazing player I’ve come up against is him, definitely.”

Music career

Away from the pitch, the diminutive midfielder earned rave reviews for his renditions on piano during his first spell in green and white, learning the theme from Braveheart and fielding calls from supporters of all clubs to master Proclaimers hit and Hibs anthem Sunshine on Leith.

Naturally, his musical talents were brought up in the question-and-answer session with a Motherwell fan asking: “See how you learned to play the Braveheart theme on piano, are you going to learn to play Lust for Life [by Iggy Pop] on the drums?”

Omeonga responded: “I don’t play drums, but I’m definitely learning Sunshine on Leith on the piano and I know you’re all waiting for it so, it’s coming, I promise.”

Social media images suggest the Genoa-registered player has also been taking guitar lessons from Edinburgh band Retro Video Club, but no word yet on which songs they’re teaching him.
