Easter Road vice-captain Paul Hanlon missed the Betfred Cup last-16 victory over Dundee after being forced off with injury in the first half of the 2-2 draw with St Johnstone but is expected to be in contention for the North Lanarkshire encounter.

The long-serving centre-back has started every league game so far this season, usually alongside Ryan Porteous, and the duo could maintain that run this weekend at Fir Park.

Fellow defensive stalwart Lewis Stevenson could also return to the matchday squad after overcoming his own injury. The 32-year-old suffered an ankle knock during the 1-0 win at Kilmarnock in October which has kept him sidelined since.

However, he took part in the post-match warm-down following the Dundee game on Saturday and could be fit for inclusion in the travelling party this weekend.

Sean Mackie has impressed in his three outings since taking over the left-back berth from Josh Doig in Stevenson’s absence but the presence of the experienced full-back along with veteran centre-back Darren McGregor and club captain David Gray will be a boost for Ross who is always keen to talk up the impact the elder statesmen have on his squad.

Playmaker Scott Allan remains sidelined but could travel to provide eyes from the stand for the coaching staff while fellow midfielder Kyle Magennis, who is working his way back to full fitness, is expected to miss out as well.
