Hibs fans will be able to watch all of the day’s Scottish Premiership goals on Saturday evenings this season for the first time in nearly 20 years.

Highlights were last shown a matter of hours after matches in 2002 but from the start of the upcoming Scottish Premiership season, the BBC Scotland programme will be screened on Saturdays at 7.30pm.

Jonathan Sutherland will present the flagship show, with the first programme on 1 August, with former St Mirren striker-turned-pundit Steven Thomson heading up the Sunday programme, starting with Celtic v Hamilton Accies on 2 August.

United trip gets special programme

Hibs’ trip to face Dundee United on 11 August will have its own highlight show. The two sides shared ten goals in their Scottish Cup third-round meeting earlier this year, drawing 2-2 at Tannadice before the Capital club triumphed 4-2 in the Easter Road replay.

Cross-platform updates

Supporters will, as normal, be able to follow matches on Sportscene Results, BBC Radio Scotland and the BBC Scotland website, with all goals uploaded on the day of each game.

Sportscene Results will be broadcasted on BBC One Scotland on Saturday afternoons while the Sunday edition of Sportscene will be repeated on BBC One Scotland later in the evening.

The Friday evening Championship programme will resume when the second tier gets under way on 17 October, with Glasgow City and Scotland international midfielder Leanne Crichton and Jonathan Sutherland sharing presenting duties.

Each programme will include pundits from the women’s game, current Scottish top-flight players, as wll as Scotland internationalists past and present.

Richard Gordon will continue to helm the Saturday Sportsound programme, with Jane Lewis heading up the Sunday edition.
