Jamie Gullan did his Easter Road first-team chances no harm by netting four goals while strike partner Yrick Gallantes grabed a brace as an experienced Hibs development side coasted to a 7-1 victory over a Huddersfield Town XI at the Hibernian Training Centre on Tuesday afternoon.

Goalkeeper Adam Bogdan, midfielder Melker Hallberg and defensive trio David Gray, Darren McGregor and Tom James all started for Lee Makel's side at East Mains.

Hibs took just eight minutes to get off the mark, Innes Murray feeding the ball to Gullan, who finished past Town 'keeper Jacob Chapman into the bottom corner.

Five minutes later, Gullan doubled his and Hibs' advantage with a similar effort, and hit his hat-trick with fewer than 20 minutes on the clock after Fraser Murray had gone close for the hosts.

Chapman then denied Hallberg from a free kick and followed it up with fine saves from Fraser Murray and Gallantes.

As Hibs piled the pressure on, the 'keeper saved well from Callum Yeats but could do nothing about the rebound which match officials awarded to Gallantes.

Town came back into the game early in the second period, and after Fraser Murray had had a goal chalked off for an infringement on 54 minutes, Jaheim Headley pulled one back for the Terriers just before the hour mark.

Bogdan then had to be alert to push away a free kick from Scott High and minutes later, Fraser Murray and Gallantes combined with the Philippines internationalist netting with a first-time strike for his second of the afternoon.

Gullan scored his fourth and Hibs' sixth on 67 minutes and substitute Stevie Bradley notched a seventh late on after another Gullan effort had been blocked.

There was some concern for Hibs when back-up goalkeeper Bogdan needed on-field treatment after a collision. The Hungarian was replaced by Kevin Dabrowski with around ten minutes remaining in a precautionary move by the Easter Road side.

Hibs: Bogdan (Dabrowski 81); Gray, McGregor, Campbell; James, I Murray, Hallberg (Doig 68), F Murray, Yeats; Gullan, Gallantes (Bradley 81). Subs not used: Block, Woods, Fairley.
