Kirk feels Hibs can still seek success

Hibernian LADIES boss 
Willie Kirk admits his side 
can still enjoy a successful 
season, despite missing out on league glory, by securing a sixth Scottish Cup success for the club.

Hibs face Queens Park tomorrow afternoon at Lesser Hampden (kick-off 3:45pm) in the quarter-finals and Kirk believes his side has what it’s takes to win the competition.
The Easter Road side are without Mariel Kaney (cup-tied) and Liz Arnott (away with national side); however, they welcome back Kirsty McLaughlin after the midfielder was missing at the weekend.

“We won’t be taking Queens Park for granted and will put out as strong a team as we possibly can,” commented Kirk.

“We know all about their strengths and weaknesses because our reserves have faced them this season in the First Division.

“With reserve teams unable to get promoted to the SWPL, Queens Park are still in with a shout of coming up and are without doubt a good side.”

Kirk believes that last season’s disappointing Scottish Cup 
final defeat from Glasgow City is all the motivation his side needs to get their hands on the trophy this term.

He said: “It can still be a successful season if we can clinch second place in the Scottish Women’s Premier League and win the Scottish Cup.”

Elsewhere in the competition, First Division Hibernian Reserves face Premier League side Hamilton Academical for a place in the semi-final, and manager Pauline MacDonald admits her side will have to be at their best to progress.

She said: “The girls have done brilliantly to get this far and 
it will take another special 
performance to get through.”
