Michael Weir: It's time for personnel changes at Hibs

There is no doubt that January is coming at a good time for Hibs.

It is a chance for Jack Ross to re-energise the squad with two or three new additions because you can't just allow players to go week to week with bad performances. There's got to come a point when enough is enough. You can't keep going along and hope they turn the corner.

One way to address it is to make changes in the transfer window, which I think the manager will be looking to do. Not just to freshen up the squad but to change the psyche of the club because they can't keep on losing games to the likes of Ross County and Livingston at home.

There's got to be a changes somewhere along the line because if we keep going down the same route nothing will happen. We've got to do something about it, and hopefully Jack does that. That's why he's the manager of the club, to make big decisions. And I think now is the time to make big decisions.

There are areas in the team that need improving and we can't keep going on thinking, 'they'll maybe do it this week'. A lot of them have had chances and somewhere along the line you have to make a decision to move on.

We're still in the mix for third or fourth place and two or three new players could freshen it right up and change the psyche, because at the moment we're getting into a run that could cost us Europe.

It's time for personnel changes and those decisions are down to the manager. If we can get the squad freshened up again with two or three players in then maybe we can kick on and get a few results.

You can't keep going back to the same ones and thinking, 'it's okay, we'll turn the corner'. Sometimes you have to force the change if it's not happening.

That's what separates the good managers from the ordinary managers. A good manager who feels it needs a change will do it, whether it's popular or not. If it doesn't improve over the next couple of weeks I think that's what Jack will be looking to do.
